About the Artist

Austin Zhang is a 20 year old saxophonist from Plano, TX, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance at the Manhattan School of Music. As a high school student, Zhang was selected as a member of several national programs including the Vail Jazz Workshop, the National YoungArts Foundation, Jazz Band of America, Berklee Global Jazz Workshop, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Summer Jazz Academy, and the TMEA All-State Jazz Ensembles. During this time, he had the opportunity to perform with George Garzone at the Newport Jazz Festival, Lewis Nash and John Clayton at the Vail Jazz Festival, and with the National Honors Series Concert Band at Carnegie Hall.
