enchanted rock

March dissolved in an instant
like sugar on my tongue

but I will never forget
what it tasted like—

a lullaby
carving its way
out of your curious
careless mouth,

tiny starfields
waiting to interrupt
the humid Texas night,

and pink granite—
pink granite everywhere.
