Before There Was Door Dash
by: Jodi Balas
There was a lesser need to fill
the gape –
the opening at
the center of your chest
was filled by mothers
and mothers’ mothers,
fixing your body to the
earth like an anchor.
the gape –
the opening at
the center of your chest
was filled by mothers
and mothers’ mothers,
fixing your body to the
earth like an anchor.
There is a hunger now
in place of need,
as wide as a wound and gushing –
You remove the fragments of
dust from your teeth.
