Island Silences, Selections from
Island Silences, 2022 Photography; “01,” “05,” “12”
Poised between reality and possibility, Island Silences explores the reasons why individuals choose insular spaces as a refuge from the hustle of the metropolis and the turmoil of everyday life. Within natural forms and local architecture, the project reveals a quiet yet profound interconnection between human presence and the landscape, where isolation becomes a condition for listening and reflection.
The work has been exhibited at Fondazione Capri, Unique Photo Philadelphia, and Segni Festival.
About the Artist
Francesco Capasso was born in Naples in 2001. He approached visual art and photography during adolescence, developing a research practice focused on forms and peripheral landscapes. His artistic inquiry evolved into a personal reflection. His work is based on a process of subtraction: stripping reality of its name, function, and narratability to reveal its silent structure. Marginal spaces, technical surfaces, residual elements—each subject is treated as raw material to be analyzed, reduced, dissected. Since 2020, he has been attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where he graduated with honors in the History of Photography, focusing on the Italian landscape between reality and possibility. He is currently pursuing a second-level specialization in photography as an artistic language. In 2025, he founded The Slow Archive, a digital platform dedicated to promoting contemporary photography and highlighting emerging artists. The project was born as a space for research and dialogue, aiming to bring together visual practices that explore slow landscapes, memory, and new forms of image representation. His works have been published in journals and exhibited at photography and visual art festivals.
