Short Story
‘Short Story’, by the Dutch artist Jerome Symons, is a functioning bus stop in American Diner style. It contains a jukebox that plays 20 short stories especially written for the project. Each year there will be 20 new stories. The project started in 2007 and runs until 2023, so at the end there will be a collection of 320 special short stories. The 2018 edition consists of 20 stories insired by the movies of David Lynch. The project was commissioned by the County of Gelderland; location: Garderen, Netherlands.
About the Artist
Jerome Symons is a Dutch artist who makes sculpture, installations, video and photography. He has made monumental sculptures in Mexico, Brazil, China, Taiwan, Korea, Lebanon, Turkey and for many cities in the Netherlands. His recent projects are a.o. ‘Speakers Point’, Istanbul European Cultural Capital 2010; Human Rights Monument, Zaandam, 2010; ‘First Turkish Euro’, 2010. He gives workshops on public art at different universities in Turkey and is partner in Wiseguys Urban Art Projects, a consultancy for public art, based in Amsterdam.
